the Environment,Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety 1994–1998 in Helmut
Kohl's 4th and 5th Cabinets.Germany, under her leadership, now leads
the world in turning away from coal and oil, setting the
highest targets for
renewables and emission cuts. In 2008, Guardian has nominated Angela Merkel as
one of the 50 green heroes who could save the planet.
